Our Surf Camp in Portugal

OUR FIRST SURF CAMP

in Ferrel Surf House

It happened! We had our first Surfcamp with @NO RUSH sports camps. Thanks a lot to Ana for the organization of the group and all amazing guests, who been part of it!

What does that mean exactly? 15 people. 14 girls, 1 boy. 3 surf teacher. 20 hours of surfing. Barbecue. Dinners. Beach days and a lot of fun. Normally our guests come in small groups, as couples or solo-travelers. This time Ana, owner of the polish sports camp agency, gathered all the people who are thrilled for a surf vacation. We made everything ready in the house to welcome our big group and soon the fun on the board can begin!

OUR TIMESCHEDULE

SUNDAY:

Today all of our guests arrived until late in the evening. It was exciting to see the new roommates and get to know everybody. We finished the day some with dinner at home, some with dinner in a seafood restaurant nearby and later in the night with some beers in our cozy kitchen.

Monday:

Monday means it is our first surf day! So after an energizing breakfast we made the boards ready, packed the wetsuits and drove with the vans to the beach. As all of the group were beginners in surfing started with basics on the beach and then jumped in the water for the first time! After we had a little 2 hour break on the beach and then the second lesson started. First day, a lot to learn, but super happy and motivated people!

In the evening everybody deserved some good food at our Welcome-Barbecue. Now everybody knows the group a little better and we spend some great hours with wine, sangria, grilled fish and meat in our outdoor area next to the pool.

Tuesday:

After the first surf lessons you could already tell: The guys felt their sore muscles. But, no excuses! On Tuesday there are two surf sessions waiting again for the guys and surfing will not be learned on the couch. So at 10 in the morning we got into our new routine again, hopped in the car and drove to the beach. You could already see some small improvements what makes us super proud of our students! Well deserved some enjoyed the sun after the surf with a cold beer in the pool, went out for dinner or took a little beach walk.

WEDNESDAY

Can you guess how our morning started? Exactly! Breakfast, packing, surf! The waves were not easy today but our students starting to manage some turns and to feel more comfortable on the board. Also today all of the students were recorded on video, to let them see themselves how their position and behavior on the board is. Keep up the good work, it’s half way through!

In the evening we spend a beautiful afternoon at our favorite beach, Almagreira. We brought some snacks, crackers, wine and beers and watched the sunset all together. As surfing is apparently not enough sports, we also played a couple of rounds beach volleyball and as it got too dark rested at our little bonfire.

THURSDAY

The morning of day four in our surf camp started with the video analysis of the surf sessions the day before. (Of course, breaky came first. We don’t want to have a hangry group sitting in the living room ;-))

We found a lot details to improve and now the students could see with their own eyes what the coaches always try to tell them in the water. All the tips they got during the theoretical lesson they could directly realize in their surf session after. It helped a lot and our students got more a feeling for enhancing their own mistakes

Of course we want to experience them one of the best restaurants in town, why we went all together to our Surf House dinner. Located directly on the beach with one of the best fish risottos in town we spent a lovely evening at XACRA. You can tell that some of our guests slowly starting to get tired earlier, so back to the house to get a good night rest.

Friday

Friyaaaay means last surfing day! Now the guys could show what they learned the last days and we have to say: We are so proud of you guys! The last day we spend at the beach Almagreira again: surf - break - surf - beach day. The weather and the waves were perfect!

As the weekend started now some of the group decided to go for dinner and to experience the nightlife of Baleal in one of the beach bars.

Saturday & SUNDAY

Those days everybody was free to use the day as he or she wants. To be honest, most of the people were just chilling at the pool or at the beach to relax their sore muscles - fair enough. Some of them went to a little trip to the surf shops in Baleal and had a chilled beer in one of the cafes. On Sunday it was already the leaving day again. This week went so fast!

We’re so happy to have had you in the house guys, keep up the great surf and thank you Ana from No Rush Sportscamp for the great partnership!
