THE PEOPLE BEHIND FERREL SURF HOUSE
RUI NORTE | OWNER & SURF TEACHER
If you see someone in the water surfing with his board upside down or backwards, chances you’ve spotted Rui! «Let’s rock’n roll!» is his favorite quote and keeps the motivation during the surf lesson ongoing. Owner and manager of the Ferrel Surf House and known as the kindest surf teacher in the house, Rui is a Portuguese surfer and local to Peniche. Rui built his Surf House by heart and wants every guest to feel welcomed and to have the best time in Baleal. He loves to teach surfing since 20 years and believes that surfing makes us better people. He cares a lot about his students’ success and fun in the water, as he says: «Surfing is easy… when you know how to do that.»
JOAQUIM | SURF TEACHER
May I introduce Joaquim, or how most of the people call him: just “Kim”, who joined our team lately as an additional surf teacher. Kim is super patient with all his students and knows how to motivate them, when they’re out of energy.
Kim has over 10 years experience in the surf industry and has a good feeling for how to explain the surf techniques to his students. In beginner classes he loves to teach the pop-ups and balance trainings in form of fun and repetitive exercises. With more advanced people Kim has a good eye for improving the stand on the board and catch the wave in the correct time and position.
nuno | SURF TEACHER
Growing up on the coast of Portugal, Nuno fell in love with the sport at a young age. He has more than 12 years of surf coach experience.
Nuno can speak 4 languages: Spanish, Portuguese, English and French. He is looking forward to meet you in the water!
MARGARIDA | SURF TEACHER
Margarida is the youngest surf teacher of our Surfhouse. She started with us in February 2023 and is an integral part of the surf instructor team. Margarida will help you with all the basic steps you need to surf, ensuring you stay safe in the water and have a lot of fun during your surfing lesson.
With her open-minded and cheerful nature, she always ensures that you have a good time not only in the water but also during your stay at the Ferrel Surf House.
Ana | HOUSE keeping & Bookings
Ana is a long-term friend of the house and a true all-around-hero. With 5 years of experience in the tourism business she knows how to make your stay unforgettable. Growing up in Peniche makes Ana a true local who knows all the places and cute things to do and visit in the area.
When she’s not organizing the things of the surf house you can find her at the reception - always with a big smile and willing to help with tips or a good conversation. Ana will make sure that you feel welcome and have a good time in Baleal.
Marlene | Social Media & Marketing
The youngest member of our surf house family is responsible for the marketing and the social media channels of our surf house. While you enjoy your surf lesson, she makes sure that you have amazing pictures and videos of your lesson so you can always remember your surf holiday.
Instagram is her favorite part, so she will be probably around and shoot some content for our Instagram Channel. If you don’t see her running around with a camera you will find her on the beach!
Lisa | yoga Teacher
Hey, I’m Lisa, a passionated yoga teacher and ocean lover. Having an active lifestyle is essential for her and she loves to share that with others. Lisa is certified 500h with yoga alliance and has done her training in India and Indonesia. She’s teaching playful vinyasa and gentle yin classes, to strengthen, relax and balance your mind..
The past 5 years Lisa has been travelling and teaching yoga in different places, all around the world. Meet Lisa on the mat and have a great yoga session!
