The town's main street is a bustling river of people, some dressed in long, flowing robes or tunics made from sack cloth and animal skins. Walking towards the old castle you can see wooden market stalls and medieval houses. Actors in period costumes, including knights, monks, lords and ladies mingle with the crowd, adding a touch of authenticity and entertainment. The festival truly comes to life as actors with fake oozing wounds and scare unsuspecting visitors.

With a cup of sangria in hand you are invited to watch medieval shows like sword fighting or horse shows. As the day progresses, a Celtic rock band takes the stage. In front there is a dancer gracefully balancing swords on her head, her ankle bells tinkling with every move.

The smell of freshly barbecued meat guides you to the food court, where you'll find a range of delectable options, including hearty soups and spit-roasted pork stuffed into bread rolls. The highlight of your culinary experience comes in the form of pão com chouriço, bread with sausage.

Óbidos' Medieval Fair is a captivating journey into the past, where history comes alive through the sights, sounds, and tastes of the medieval era. From the lively streets and thrilling displays to the delectable food and vibrant atmosphere, this festival offers a truly immersive experience.
